Towards a Plastic-Free Environment

TBLC, with assistance from East Gippsland Shire, East Gippsland Landcare Network and Coastcare, presented an information stall at Metung Market on Saturday 10 March to highlight the problems caused by plastic waste to the marine and surrounding environment of the Gippsland Lakes.

In spite of the confronting nature of some of the exhibits and information, the Community was well engaged and volunteers gave out loads of children’s paper carry bags with educational/environmental information. There was a lot of interest in the products the Shire provided, particularly the ‘onyalife’ items.

Tambo Bluff Landcare Coastcare is hopeful of the future acceptance in Metung and the wider community to alternatives to plastic, to ultimately preserve the unique marine environment that we love so much.
